Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a condition which affects the hormone levels within women.

Women with PCOS produce higher-than-usual levels of the male hormone androgen. Although androgen is naturally produced within women, high levels of male hormones can cause excessive hair growth (hirsutism) - usually on the face, chest, areola area, lower abdomen, back, buttocks and thighs.
